Mark Sweeney Workshop

“Something Out of Nothing”

9am to 2pm – Saturday, November 2, 2019 @ FUMC

Sponsored for SPS members by the Luba Ricket Creativity Fund donated by her family.

Mark’s program “Something Out of Nothing” will explore how to make works of art from ordinary everyday objects. Day-to-day things you would normally just walk by. With modifying and compositing in Photoshop you can create your own art pieces.

Some of the topics covered will be:

  • How to setup Photoshop for success. Be more productive and spend more time creating by customizing your workspace.
  • Using Layers and blend modes creatively.
  • Quick and easy ways to make selections.
  • Retouching “Quick & Dirty” vs. “The Right Way”.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a laptop with Photoshop and work on images with Mark or just watch and enjoy the program.

Mark’s photographic career started in high school as a staff photographer for The Elkhart Truth and South Bend Tribune newspapers in Northern Indiana where he photographed sporting events, feature stories and spot news. FOr the past 20 years Mark has been in Clifton Park, New York, photographing weddings, portraits and corporate events. A winner of numerous awards, Mark is actively involved in PPA and is a past president of the Capital-Champlain Section of PPSNYS.

When Mark isn’t making something out of nothing, he’s shooting weddings and special events. Check out his website at
